Begin your apprenticeship journey at BTC by applying for an apprenticeship on our website or through our prospectus form. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option. Then, have a look at relevant vacancies by visiting our vacancy page. If you haven’t found a suitable vacancy, you will automatically be placed into our Talent Pool.

This course is for anyone interested in studying while working in parks, gardens, garden centres, nurseries, cemeteries or green spaces, as a landscape gardener, or in production horticulture. The programme was written by industry professionals and provides you with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers are looking for.
The apprenticeship includes the Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides.
Teaching could be through weekly workshop days at the Cannington campus, block weeks of teaching in October and February half terms, or one-to-one sessions in your workplace. Whichever option you and your employer choose, 20% of your time will be spent learning.

Assessment is through completing an e-portfolio, written questions, practical journals and an end-point assessment, which includes professional discussion, practical task and multiple choice computer exam.
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you could working in botanical or historic gardens, public parks and gardens, food and plant production and landscaping (both interior and exterior). Alternatively, you could start a Level 3 Apprenticeship while working in a supervisory position, study a RHS Level 3 course or the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horticulture.

Once I complete my course, my dream is to work for The National Trust or travel and find employment in gardens abroad. The course has helped me see all the opportunities available to me, so I feel confident my future looks bright.
